Paraffin is used in addition to a gelcoat or a resin, to reduce external surface oxidation which makes the fiberglass product “sticky” even after complete polymerization.
Adding paraffin to the gelcoat requires a good shaking for a correct dispersion of the material. For a correct use it is recommended to add it to a gelcoat in the maximum percentage of 2% in order not to deteriorate its characteristics. In winter and in general when the temperature is very low, it is advisable to shake the paraffin solution before using it.
